S.F. Journal Endorsements for the 2026 California Election

“All of my life campaigning have given me one clear message. Voting isn’t the most we can do, but it is the least.”
– Gloria Steinem – from My Life on the Road (2015)

You may have received your ballot in the mail. You may just are waiting for Tuesday, November 3, 2026 to cast your ballot. In any event, it is important to vote. If you do not vote, you have little right to complain. I vote every election and it is liberating. I often then spend the next four years shaking my head complaining about the lack of judgement by my fellow citizens.

In San Francisco we are presently being inundated with mailers, door hangers and other political fliers. Many of these are funded by PACs with deep pockets and billionaire funding, To get a handle on the situation you can look at the SF Chronicle’s endorsements but better yet I recommend the San Francisco League of Pissed Off Voters. They are everyday people and political wonks that make sense out of the long list of propositions. On the other hand, the Chronicle often sides with the monied and the well-connected.

U.S. House District 11: Connie Chan

While Scott Weiner is a more than competent politician who knows how to get bills through systems, the guy is simply a slime-bag. He cuddles up to the libertarian tech-bros and does all kinds of nefarious mud-slinging. He is indebted to the big tech and A.I. industries, real estate tycoons and Israel. The house needs to have people there who are not going to support the business as usual status-quo. Connie Chan will represent San Francisco from the viewpoint of a working-class person. She is not your usual slick politician, playing the dirty back-stabbing political games.. I predict this race to be closer than the polls suggest.

We are in troubling times and the world is upside down. Around the nation people are now paying a lot of a gallon of gas. It may be that this one issue may turn the tide. If Jimmy Carter were alive, he could surely tell you  a story or two.

In San Francisco the price of diesel is about $9 a gallon.
